the 12th PTNCE Conference

21 – 24 September 2026, Białystok, Poland

Karol Adam Kamiński(Medical University of Białystok, Białystok PLUS)

Local keynote speaker. He leads the long-term population study Białystok PLUS, which aims to identify the biological, environmental, and behavioral determinants of health and chronic diseases. His work combines an epidemiological approach with an evolutionary perspective and constitutes an important contribution to research on human health in the context of environmental change and lifestyle.

Claudio Tennie(University of Tübingen)

A researcher focusing on the evolution of cognition and culture, best known for his studies of social learning and behavioral traditions in chimpanzees and their implications for understanding the origins of human culture. His work addresses, among other topics, cognitive constraints in cumulative culture and mechanisms of cultural transmission, which are directly relevant to research on the evolutionary foundations of cooperation and social organization.

Barbara Fischer (Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research, Austria; University of Vienna)

A researcher in evolutionary biology and human biology who combines theoretical and empirical approaches (including modeling and data analysis) in studies of the evolution of phenotypic traits. Her work focuses, among other topics, on the relationship between adaptation and constraints in evolution, as well as on the evolutionary determinants of key features of human biology. The Konrad Lorenz Institute has a research profile naturally aligned with that of PTNCE and offers fellowship programs that may provide an attractive pathway for international research mobility for younger members of the Society.
